Welcome to the site for all the latest information about Connecticut's dirty little century, roughly 118miles in early September, about half off paved surfaces. Please start by reading The Basics (this is a link) for information about the ride (if current year Basics is not yet available, the previous year will give a general gist).

Rather than answer individual questions repeatedly, please address questions as "comments" to the MOST RECENT post and I will answer in a blog posting for all to see.

Many thanks

Thanks to everyone that came out yesterday and allowing me to share. Hopefully everyone found some personal gems on their own tour. I'll post some more pictures Todd took in a day to two, including one documenting my complete flip, tuck, and roll off the bike over an unleashed dog on the Airline Trail. Luckily for the owner's liability, she picked a mountain biker who knows how to crash.
Thanks again,
Salem

  1. Excellent, epic, and at times gloriously sloppy. Glad you shared!

  2. Did you leave a stranded fig newton in the middle of the trail? Cuz I ate it.

  3. Really? We considered returning it to Salem, good thing we left it.

Truth be told, I didn't finish the ride. I rode home after the Meshomasic. That's why there's no beat bike blog entry about my attempt.

  4. Thanks for the ride Salem. Not sure if the Diamond Back was the best choice, but my tires did float over some of those sandy sections, where I noticed the tracks from the skinnier tires of the riders ahead serpentining. I lost my legs on the Champion Hill climb, so with my house a half mile down on Clark Hill, I called it a day (around 4:15). Also thanks to Brendan for keeping me company and on the right route.

  5. Does that confirm the identity of the mystery newton?

  7. Believe the mystery newton has something to do with Peter C. He bought out the complete inventory at the Willimantic Coop. No where to put them but down his shorts. Wish I had a camera. Hope it tasted good...

  8. Great mixed element ride Salem. Thanks for organizing. All the different sections kept things interesting. Could have gone without the second cold soak. Fortunately I was near the end.
