Welcome to the site for all the latest information about Connecticut's dirty little century, roughly 118miles in early September, about half off paved surfaces. Please start by reading The Basics (this is a link) for information about the ride (if current year Basics is not yet available, the previous year will give a general gist).

Rather than answer individual questions repeatedly, please address questions as "comments" to the MOST RECENT post and I will answer in a blog posting for all to see.

RAIN DELAY: SUNDAY DETOUR FOR 2014

A new first for the Detour de Connecticut, I've checked three forecasts and the consensus has Sunday looking like a better bet than tomorrow.  Two notes on resources for the Sunday event: the bike shop in Willimantic and the East Hampton Library water stop will both be closed.  Riders should always be self sufficiently, but that will be even more true this time.  Plan on an extra tube, patch kit, H2O bottle etc.

Otherwise, the ride stays the same, 8am sharp departure Sunday, April 27,2014.

  1. Sunday it is. Question for the experienced Detour riders regarding tire pressure. 185 lb rider on a cyclocross bike, Schwable, Marathon 700x37 tires? Suggested tire preseure?

  2. I may ride Saturday anyway, or head down to Meriden for Daffodil festival. Can't do Sunday. If anyone wants to ride with on Saturday - acherolis@gmail.com. 860-204-2704

  3. Hey Salem, are there plans for 2015?

  4. My plan for 2015 and beyond is as usual: Last Saturday in April with Sunday as a rain date. I think the switch to Sunday this year messed with a lot of people's plans to do the ride, but it sure beat riding a muddy slog.
